Amalgamation takes part of an Imperial stout aged in a ruby port butt for 26 months and blends it with a 43-month old Four Roses barrel aged barleywine. Thicker than a traditional barleywine but not as viscous as our stouts, Amalgamation has a medium plus body with aromas of dark cocoa, tobacco, boozy raisin, and roasted coffee beans.
Equilibrium's Tasting Notes:
We are getting flavors of jammy port atop baker's chocolate, coffee creama, chocolate covered Luxardo Maraschino cherries, Toblerone caramel nougat bars dipped in fudge, pinot noir tannins, and an incredible mix of barrel character, including baking spice and a balanced addition of charred barrel heat. As complex as Amalgamation is, this blended creation is a rollercoaster ride of flavors that truly come together!
